Caz Bousfield // Florist // Photographer
A little bit about who May & Mimosa are and how this little homegrown business came to be...

I live in Ancoats in Manchester City Centre, but I am proud to be from York, North Yorkshire. I live with my husband and this is where I run my home studio. I consider myself a photographer, an aspiring florist and a real life hostess. I love to cook and inviting friends and family over for dinner is up there with my favourite things to do.

After studying Photography I began down the path of kicking off my own small business. I worked as a freelancer, photographing events, weddings and artist promo.
This path led me into retail as a side line for some years, where I have learned some wonderful and crucial life lessons.

After some reflection, some furlough and a little time away from the art world. I decided to embrace the journey of becoming a Florist and my love of creating beautiful stuff.
Further background into May and Mimosa
For those of you that like a little more background... I'll start you off with one of my favourite flower related memories of being a child.
Mum would shout up to me and my brother to come and set the table for tea. We were lucky enough to live in the beautiful North Yorkshire countryside and we had a garden full of beautiful blooms. There were two jobs at tea time - putting the cutlery out and the other was running into the garden to collect a small bouquet of flowers for the table. Mum would pass me her best scissors and say 'hurry up its nearly ready'. I'd run around frantically collecting the best and brightest flowers I could. The rest of the story needs very little explanation, its been a twisty turny road but here is where it all began.

The name May and Mimosa comes from two other wonderful women in my life. My two Grandmas had a wealth of knowledge and passion for the flower world. Mimosa was the favourite flower of my Dads mum and the vibrant bright colour fits perfectly with my memories of her. The name May flows down the family tree from my Grandma, on my mums side. She is a big part of the strength, positivity and resilience that runs through my business.
